Under the statutes of the Warsaw School of Economics the SGH Library acts as institution with research, didactic and service-oriented tasks.
The SGH Library holdings cover a wide range of issues including economics, econometrics and economic policy, the economic history and geography of certain countries, economic law, statistics and demographics, accountancy, finance, banking, labor and social policy, enterprise, trade, transport, services, as well as marketing and management, environmental issues and computer science and cybernetics.
The Library of Warsaw School of Economics is the largest economics library in Poland. Its holdings are organized in several collections. Each collection is available in a different department, on precisely defined conditions: by free access, by library order slips, or by borrowing. The Main Collection boasts a large number of first editions of famous books relating to economics, not to mention a valuable collection of manuscripts. Students are allowed to borrow books exclusively from the Students’ Lending collection.
At the end of 2012 the holdings amounted to about a million volumes and over a thousand titles of subscribed periodicals, Polish and foreign. Besides, over 30 000 titles of foreign journals are available in electronic form in databases subscribed by the SGH Library.
